Tyre Safety & Maintenance Blog

Quick guides from our mobile fitters — keep your tyres legal, safe and lasting longer.

Tyre safety in 60 seconds

A quick visual guide to the two checks that matter most: tread depth and tyre pressure.

Tread depth

UK legal minimum is 1.6mm across the central 3/4 of the tyre. We recommend replacing at 3mm for wet-weather safety. Use a 20p coin — if the outer band is visible, your tread is too low.

Tyre pressure

Check monthly and before long trips, when tyres are cold. Correct PSI is on the driver's door frame or filler cap. Under-inflation wastes fuel and wears tyres unevenly.

Sidewall damage

Bulges, cuts or cracks in the sidewall mean the tyre must be replaced — they can't be repaired. Call us and we'll come to you.

Age & rotation

Rotate tyres every 6,000 miles for even wear. Replace tyres older than 6 years even if the tread looks fine — the rubber hardens and grip drops.
